This page was fun to do, it came out crappier than I'd hoped but whatever. Aside from Eddie's pants I made a rule for this page that I wasn't allowed to use any manufactured browns, only whatever I could put together with colors. The results as you can see are interesting... I like the effect I used for the trees on the opposite mountainside, and I'd like to keep using it as it looks a bit less daft than the method I was using before, the downside being it was physically tiresome and mentally tedious.
As for the sunrise, well, let's just say I underestimated the difficulty of- or rather, overestimated my aptitude at- painting a sunrise. This is attempt/technique #4. It'll do for now, though perhaps someday I'll fix it so it looks less like the scientific cross-section part of an acne cleanser commercial.
If those mountains were bare from about two thirds of the way up all the way to the top, and capped them with white and a hint of blue, you'd have a fairly accurate rendering of the Chugach Mountains that run along the east side of Anchorage. Very well done.
And Eddie looks like I did last Saturday morning.
Oh, and "picturesque" is misspelled...
@The_Hankerchief: You know, picaresque is a real word, but means something entirely different. I was under the impression that it meant the same thing. And the weird thing is I even looked it up beforehand to make sure I wasn't misusing the word. XD How in the hell.
And I think Tony would know the difference, too. Oh well. An easy fix. Thanks, Hank! Glad you like the mountain range :)
hehehe hangover face, lol I don't even drink and I still find humor in irony of this page in particular
@TheSilverLeague: XP glad it's enjoyable even to non-alcoh- I mean, non-drinkers
@mitchellbravo: for whatever reason it reminds me of Sleep deprived Stu from Rugrats lol
@TheSilverLeague: "Stu it's four in the morning, what are you doing?"
Rugrats was such a good goddamn show
Landscapes are hard to paint, especially skies! This looks pretty good! I know I struggle with clouds - random grey stuff is okay but I can't paint cumuli properly at all. D:
I have a feeling everyone can relate to Eddie on this page - I know I can. XD
@Oly-RRR: Thank you!! I think if I were to go back and do it over again I've learned enough in the past year that it could turn out better, which is heartening. Clouds come easier to me than trying to approximate the natural gradients of the sky with traditional media :( I usually end up "cheating" and throwing down a gradient on the computer later.
I think you're right, even people who've never been hungover know how much it sucks when someone wakes you up after a fitful night- so you just multiply that by some factor and that's Eddie :P
That is one mighty fine landscape!
