I realized the page title had more meaning than initially intended, since this is the last time we're going to see this much of the gang together for a very, very, very long time. As individuals or occasionally pairs they have some long roads to travel before they're reunited.

But that's how it is after high school, or any institution really, I guess. Groups tend to wither piece by piece, just due to inconveniences and obligations, if not because of actual fallings-out between the people involved.

Heh, hopefully by the next time I draw them all, I'll be much improved at anatomy and we can look back on this page and laugh triumphantly. (Maybe that'll just be me, though)

Cop Story and Cop Stories by Oly R

And finally, since you're all so lovely, on our last links-for-updates day, you get TWO brides for your last brother. Cop Story is the main storyline, Cop Stories is shorter related canon stories that accompany the main storyline but are not necessary in order to comprehend it. They share a very pleasingly diverse array of characters, including down-on-his-luck Chancey, who just lost his right hand in a mysterious and ambiguous "accident;" brash and grumpy Nutter, who- to put it in a nice euphemism- lost his marbles on the job and now has visions of his taunting victim, that guy up there on the left; curmudgeonly Quinton, in the wheelchair in the right image, whose acquired-late-in-life quadriplegia has severely impacted his life and led him to alienate his loved ones; and a veritable crayon box of teenaged kids with cerebral palsy and other disabilities, growing up in a world that doesn't quite welcome them- some knowledgeable of this, and some blissfully ignorant. This only scratches the surface of the cast, but now is a great time to jump in and catch up on both comics, as new storylines are beginning in each. The sometimes grim subject matter is made accessible and palatable by the adorable cartoon style and skillful mood lighting and atmosphere. The character designs are as memorable as their personalities, making even the more unpleasant characters easy to relate to or even root for. With its rich settings, intriguing beginning, and potential for unique and unusual plots going forward, Cop Story & Stories are well worth a read and a bookmark.

Thanks for coming along with us this scene, friends. And welcome to the newer readers who hopped in along the way- I hope the comic will continue to amuse and entertain you going forward.

As for when I'll be back? Honestly, truly can't say. Before year's end, for sure, but anything more specific than that, I don't want to even try to estimate. The next scene is mercifully (for me) shorter than this one- probably only 3 or 4 pages- and the script is more or less in working order, but I will have to see what needs to be tweaked once I start figuring out the paneling.

Hope to see you all again soon- even if I can't get a page up in a reasonable time frame, I'll try to post at least something else relevant within the next month, to keep my "last updated" counter from going gray and thus prevent myself from being consumed by guilt.

Awww! I have to say, even if I hadn't read your comment that it was the last time the gang would be together for a long, long time, there was something so very touching about that last panel... the way they're all walking together into the sunset. <3 Lovely.

Aw man, I genuinely have a lump in my throat, of the good sort - both because of the gang walking off into the sunset and that whole bittersweet air (like you said, it's like that with any institution - you move on to something new and often better and there's no stopping it but you can't help missing your old life because it's all you know) and the link and what you wrote about Cop Story and the cast descriptions, really, I'm so touched! Thank you!!

...went off to hug Chris (Gene is hiding), got snapped at, right on. :P

@pixieface: Awwwww, thank you so much!! It felt pretty cheesy to literally draw it out that way, but sometimes you need cheese :P If this was a literature class we could make up some symbolism about them leaving THE ALLEY OF CHILDHOOD AND MOVING ONTO THE STREETS OF ADULTHOOD.... XD

@Oly-RRR: Waaah I'm so glad that it was emotionally effective :'D It was one of those things where I didn't realize until I had already uploaded it and started typing up the comment that this was their last togetherness, for some reason, so it kind of caught me by surprise myself. Hehehehe I could have gone on a lot more about Cop Story but tried to staunch myself from novelizing XP otherwise I start sounding like those little kids who get asked to summarize Star Wars or Harry Potter... :P

Aaahahaha Chris is like "Now now let's not be sappy" XD

Awww! X) Speaking of kids describing Star Wars, you can always do it like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cg-pnGFbwMQ :D

"When our dignity is occluded by dementia!" I think you're getting a little ahead of yourself Marie...

Aww, this scene was really sweet! It's kinda nice to see a competition story that's more about the characters having fun than winning or losing. I'm glad we got to see the gang all together before they split up. Although I'm also interested to see how some of the stuff earlier in the chapter will be resolved, especially with Aggie.

@Oly-RRR: Oh my god. I've never seen that before. That's.... that just is. XD

@Dranxis: Lol she's like toeing that line where she's either being encouraging, or insulting, maybe both, but definitely neither XP

And thanks! I had fun writing the scene for that reason, I mean I think it's fairly obvious from the start they're not going to succeed but I liked getting to skim a little more past the surface of their group dynamic in a way I think will help set up other stuff in the future (the far, far future, when our dignity...)

And I'm glad to hear that, too! Aggie is actually coming up next, I'm working on the thumbnails for her scene right now and hopefully will get the rest of the chapter set up as well!
